What's New At The Library?

Place your own holds for Curb-side Pick up
Posted on: May 19, 2020

To help us offer curb-side service to as many people as possible we encourage you, if you are able, to place your own holds on titles in our online catalg. Instructions for logging into your account and placing holds can be found HERE

Curbside Pick-Up: Starts May 19th
Posted on: May 16, 2020

Effective Tuesday May 19th, we will be starting our curbside pick up service. Yay!

How it will work:
After Tuesday you can start placing your reserves by logging into your account and placing holds on desired titles (best option), emailing us at general@lanarklibrary.ca or by phoning us at 613-259-3068. We will be answering the phones Tuesdays-Thursdays 10am to 1pm.

If you would like to reserve your own titles but don't have your log in information please email us. By placing your own holds in our system, we can fulfill more book requests so we would love if you did this step yourself, if you are able to.

At your designated pick-up time (we will let you know) we will meet you outside the library (there is no access to the library at this time) and place the bagged materials into the trunk of your car.

Please be assured that all book returns are quarantined following public health guidelines.

Please note: This process may, and likely will, evolve.

Library Closure: Until Further Notice
Posted on: April 1, 2020

The Lanark Highlands Public Library would like to notify the public that we will be closed until further notice. The decision is in response to recent measures implemented across the province under the guidance of public health officials with regards to COVID-19.

These measures are being undertaken for the health and safety of our community:

• Due dates for all currently checked out materials has been extended until after we reopen and late fees are suspended;
• Holds will be suspended and pick up expiry dates extended;
• Please follow us on Facebook to keep up to date on our online services. New content is being distrubuted to libraries on a weekly basis;
• Computer bookings, programs, events and outreach activities are cancelled.

The Library will continue to actively monitor the evolving situation regarding the COVID-19 pandemic. We are working closely with local municipalities, public health authorities and Ontario’s library services agencies to make timely, responsible decisions about programming, services and access.

We are continually adding to our online databases to support you and your family's recreational and educational needs. For an updated list Click Here

We are pleased to announce we've found a home for our first book hub!

New Hub

We are pleased to announce we've found a home for our first book hub outside the North Lavant Community Hall! The book hub follows the idea of "little libraries", providing a book box for the public to access free books outside of the normal library locations. The idea is to take a book and pass it on, promoting both reading and recycling! Each book hub recipient coordinates volunteer stewards, who manage their individual book hub. Books are supplied via donations and discards from the library. The book hubs were funded by the Community Fund for Canada's 150th and each was handcrafted by members of the Perth Men's Shed group. The Lanark Library has a second book hub available and we are looking for a home for it at a central accessible rural location, and a steward to maintain the book hub. If you are interested, please contact the library!
