Become a board member!

We are seeking committed Board Members who are dedicated to supporting the Library and the community at large. The Library board will be composed of one member of Council and between five and seven members of the public. The Board will oversee the development of comprehensive and efficient public library services that will positively affect the Township and its residents.

How to apply?:

  • Access the application form by clicking on the document link or ask for a hard copy at the circulation desk of the Library.
  • Complete the application and submit to Nicole Guthrie – Clerk in person or by mail at the Township office (75 George St. Lanark, ON K0G 1K0) or by email to lhclerk@lanarkhighlands.ca.
  • DEADLINE TO APPLY: November 16, 2026 at 4pm

Requirements:

  • At least 18 years of age
  • Canadian citizen or permanent resident
  • Resident of Lanark Highlands
  • May not be employed with the Library or municipality

Term:

  • 4 years, concurrent with the terms of Council

Time Commitment:

  • Monthly board meetings, excluding the months of July, August & December (Currently held on the 3rd Wednesday of the month at 4pm)
  • Review board meeting package prior to meetings
  • Meetings typically last 60 minutes

Skill sets & areas of expertise (not mandatory):

  • A passion for the community
  • Financial management
  • Previous board experience
  • Policy development
  • Willingness to learn
