The Lanark Highlands Public Library is offering a One-On-One Tutoring Program this summer for children who have completed grade 2 up to and including completion of grade 5.
Objective:
The objective of this program is to promote the enjoyment of books and reading and to support your child’s reading and/or writing efforts during the summer months. The relationship established between your child and their reading buddy is crucial to their enjoyment of this reading experience – encourage them to look forward to their reading sessions and have fun!
Timeframe:
The program runs from July 4 to August 25.
If you feel your child would benefit from this program then please feel free to apply. The program involves practice reading in the library with a staff member on a one-to-one basis. Your child will attend a minimum of (8) 60-minute sessions during the summer. We strongly recommend that your child attend as many sessions as possible, as frequency has proven to build a stronger connection to the library and staff and leads to increased enjoyment in the program. If your child is accepted into this program, we ask that you commit to supporting your child at home and go through any material sent home by the reading buddy. We ask that you agree to have your child attend all sessions on time.
Deadline for this application is Friday June 16, 2023 but it is on a first come first serve basis so you may want to get your application in sooner.
This is a unique opportunity for your child to receive extra help with reading this summer – we look forward to working with you! Please fill out the form below to register for our One-On-One Literacy Tutoring.
